Project Narrative:
The offices of a trading company are located in a not very high quality deigned building and the adjoining land of low width is intended for the construction of new offices.
According to urban regulations, the aggregation of two adjacent lands includes an incentive density ratio, so to add new floors, the existing building must undergo major transformation, and because the daily operation of existing offices is disrupted, an alternative idea is necessary.
The new land has 7 meters' width and to achieve the density ratio for the top up floors of the existing building, a 9-meter console has been designed for four floors, which requires coordination and special design in the structural aspect.
The inherent dichotomy between the existing building and the new building is well demonstrated. This dichotomy has also been extended to the new building, and the lower and upper floors have dissimilar nature. Rigid and transparent duality; defined in such a way that the console part is considered as an emphasized appendant part to the project.
Absolute transparency of higher volume, especially at night, reminds of the clear cube above the building.
