Project Narrative:
In 2003, a terrible earthquake shook the city of Bam in Kerman province, killing about 50,000 people. Extensive sadness and despair overshadowed the city. Many artists decided to step in to restore hope in the hearts of people of Bam.
Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Hossein Alizadeh and Keyhan Kalhor, famous masters of Iranian traditional music, started a social movement to build a cultural artistic center in Bam by holding concerts entitled "Hamnava with Bam".
The Bam Art Garden project, parts of which are designed on the existing structure, is based on principals inspired by traditional Iranian architecture.
Climate has always been considered as an effective component of traditional Iranian architecture, so in designing this project, an effort has been made to keep the architectural design in line with the climate as much as achievable.
The Bam Art Garden project is designed according to the needs of the region and special attention has been paid to social and public functions, on the basis of which the spatial plan of the project has been organized in a very flexible way. It should be noted that according to the Iranian art tradition, certain patterns and motifs have been defined and implemented by designers.
