Project Narrative:
This project is a research center commissioned by Iranian Meteorological Organization in Qom. The main design approach has been based on the warm and dry climate of this city and attention to the principles of sustainable architecture to provide climatic comfort.
Therefore, the most sustainable and especially climate-friendly macro architecture solutions have been used to save energy. Shading over open openings in the exterior wall with embedded protrusions in the form of a terrace around the volume and also considering vertical walls greatly reduces the problem of heat caused by maximum sunlight; another major solution is the optimal orientation of the building which has two important factors: first is the alignment with the prevailing wind direction and the use of wind potential for natural ventilation; And the second is most amount of shading in the burning summer of Qom for the whole building
It should be noted that the horizontal formation of the building has, to the extent possible, the least interference with the skyline.
Taking these approaches, on the one hand, and considering solar-powered roofing as a whole, has dramatically reduced the use of non-renewable energy in the project.
